1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site that operates independently of government. It does not keep official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve records on request, or perform official background checks.

Its purpose is to identify the Nicholas County Sheriff's Office, the Circuit and Magistrate Courts, the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, and the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry as distinct official sources, while offering links to outside research tools. Public-body access is governed in part by the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W.Va. Code §29B-1-1 et seq.; access to CIB history is separately limited by W.Va. Code §15-2-24(d).

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

• Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means against the pages
• Threaten, stalk, or harass anyone with information obtained here
• Interfere with performance or prevent others from accessing the website

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

The restriction is especially important for the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry, which exists for public safety notice under West Virginia Code Chapter 15, Article 12. Registry information must not be used for vigilantism, discriminatory treatment, blacklisting, threats, or harassment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency within the meaning of the FCRA, and we create no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Our advertising partners likewise do not provide site tools designed to assess applicants, insurance risk, rental eligibility, or creditworthiness. You must not use information from this website or any linked tool to:

• Set an insurance rate or evaluate creditworthiness
• Make a hiring or termination decision
• Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
• Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
• Carry out any other action regulated by the FCRA

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must be obtained from the appropriate official channel, such as the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, or from an FCRA-compliant screening provider.

5. No Legal Advice

The website provides general information, not legal advice. Its discussion of Nicholas County records cannot determine how West Virginia law on a charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement applies to a specific person. Consult a licensed West Virginia attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are offered "as is." We make no promise that:
